CUT
Grades of Cut
Diamonds are meticulously graded on a scale from Ideal to Poor, based on how precisely they are Cut
Ideal Cut
It’s giving the crème de la crème of diamond cuts. Ideal cut diamonds are crafted to exact proportions and angles, reflecting nearly all the light that enters them. This results in unparalleled brilliance and sparkle, making these diamonds breathtakingly radiant. They are ideal for those who desire nothing but the best bling.
Excellent Cut
These diamonds also offer exceptional brilliance, reflecting most of the light. They are very close to ideal cuts, with only minor differences in proportions. Excellent cut diamonds provide an outstanding level of sparkle and are a fantastic choice for those looking for near-perfection.
Very Good Cut
Diamonds with this grade still deliver great sparkle. Low key, it’s an excellent option for those who seek to adorn themselves at a more accessible price point. They reflect a significant amount of light, ensuring your diamond shines brightly without breaking the bank.
Good Cut
These diamonds reflect a fair amount of light but not as much as higher grades. They strike a good balance between quality and cost, making them a budget-friendly option that doesn't sacrifice too much in the looks department.
Fair and Poor Cut
These are the grades to avoid. Fair and Poor cut diamonds allow much of the light to escape from the sides or bottom of the diamond, resulting in a lacklustre appearance that lacks the fire and brilliance of well-cut stones. But you’ll never see these grace our collections.
COLOUR
Colour Grading Scale
Diamonds are graded on a colour scale from D (colourless) to Z (light yellow or brown), each grade representing a specific range of colour.
Colourless (D-F)
These diamonds are the corps d'elite, the rarest and most sought-after by craftsmen. D-F diamonds are almost entirely devoid of colour, allowing maximum light reflection and unrivalled brilliance. They are the epitome of pure elegance, capturing and reflecting light like a prism.
Near Colourless (G-J)
To the naked eye, these diamonds appear colourless, although slight traces of colour can be seen under magnification. They offer an excellent balance between beauty and value, providing a near-colourless appearance at a more accessible price point.
Faint (K-M)
Diamonds in this range have a subtle yellow tint visible to the naked eye. They can be a smart choice for those who want a larger stone without the heavy price tag of colourless diamonds. The faint hue adds a unique warmth and character that can add a charming and distinctive flavour to your jewels.
Very Light and Light (N-Z)
These diamonds exhibit noticeable colour, ranging from light yellow to brown. While they are less traditional, their unique hues can be ideal for those who prefer a vintage vibe to their diamonds. They also make for interesting and affordable options for unconventional jewellery designs.
CLARITY
Clarity Grading Scale
Diamonds are graded on a scale from Flawless (FL) to Included (I3) - let’s break it down
FL // IF
Flawless and Internally Flawless
These diamonds are the epitome of perfection. With no inclusions visible under 10x magnification, they are incredibly rare and highly prized. Owning one is like having a piece of the stars—pure and unblemished.
VVS1 // VVS2
Very Very Slightly Included
These diamonds have the tiniest inclusions that are very difficult to see even under magnification. They offer excellent quality and value, making them an ideal choice for those who want near-perfection without the Flawless price tag.
VS1 // VS2
Very Slightly Included
These diamonds have minor inclusions that are somewhat easy to see under magnification but not to the naked eye. They strike a great balance between quality and price, offering stunning brilliance that won’t cost a fortune.
SI1 // SI2
Slightly Included 1 & 2
These diamonds have noticeable inclusions under magnification, and some may be visible to the naked eye. They are a good budget option, perfect for those who want a larger stone without compromising too much on clarity.
I1 // I2 // I3
Included 1, 2 & 3
These diamonds have obvious inclusions that can affect transparency and brilliance. Generally, these are less desirable but can be a great choice for budget-conscious buyers who prioritise size over perfection.
